Yarn bowl

Yarn - or knitting bowl - decorated with spotted heath orchids, bog asphodel, bog cotton, butterwort and sundew, in satin charcoal and lichen glazes. This yarn bowl has an open spiral and three different sizes of yarn-draw holes.

My knitting bowls are hand thrown, turned and pierced. Plant designs are then carved into an applied dark, peaty satin glaze using a sgraffito technique. These are then bisque fired, and a variety of coloured glazes hand painted into the carved designs before a final glaze firing.

The spiral of this yarn bowl has slightly distorted during firing, and is therefore reduced. But fully functional and perfectly loveable!
